Pressure pipe detachment delays train

The pressure pipe between the engine and bogies of 12317 Up Akal Takht Express got detached on Wednesday morning after leaving Kolkata station, leading to a delay of 54 minutes.

"The pressure pipe between the engine and the first compartment of Amritsar-bound Akal Takht Express got detached at 7.30 am, soon after leaving Kolkata, the originating station," Eastern Railway spokesperson R N Mahapatra said.

"There was no possibility of any mishap as the train came to a halt following the detachment as lack of air pressure automatically activate the brakes," he said. "However, an enquiry has been ordered to find out the cause of the detachment," Mahapatra said.

The train left for its destination at 8.24 am after necessary repairs.
