Pre-primary girl molested by school's security guard

Kolkata: A pre-primary student of Alipore Multipurpose School for Girls was allegedly molested by a security guard of the school on the pretext of offering lozenges.
The guardians staged an agitation in front of the school and also gheraoed the teacher in charge of the school alleging that their complaints regarding the behavior of the teacher have fallen on deaf ears.
As per the allegations of the parents, night security guard Rameshwar Singh would often take students at the back side of the school building and also at his quarter located inside the school premises with the promise of giving them lozenges and molest them.
Police have arrested the security guard of the school and have slapped a case under section 12 of POCSO Act against him.
"He would often take students to his quarter and molest them.
On Wednesday, after the mid-day meal he took one of the students on the pretext of offering her lozenges and committed the same act," a guardian Bhola Biswas said.
It may be mentioned that allegations of molestation had surfaced against Singh in 2015 and a complaint was lodged with the Primary Education Board and also with the head mistress of the school but no action was taken against the person.
In the meantime, a section of agitating parents went to the quarter where Singh lived and started assaulting him. Even his wife and daughter bore the brunt of the wrath of the agitators.
A police team from Alipore police station rushed to the spot and brought situation under control. Teacher-in-charge Bandana Dasgupta asked the parents to lodge a written complaint and said she will forward the same to the Primary Board for action.
Local councillor Debalina Biswas said: "Law will take its own course and the accused has already been arrested. He will not be allowed to join the school further."
