Postal dept to set up aadhaar updation centres in state

Kolkata: The Postal department will set up Aadhar updation centres at all post offices in the state where there will be availability of space and manpower. Launching an Aadhar updation centre at Salt Lake CC Block, Chief Post Master General (PMG) West Bengal Arundhaty Ghosh said: "We will open such centres at 45 head post offices and around 300 big sub-post offices across the state. We need to develop infrastructure at some of these post offices. The Centre will allocate funds for this purpose. "The updatation centres will cater to spelling errors and other mistakes in Aadhars and also update of change of address or name. As there is no such permanent facility for updation, the Central government has urged the post offices across the state to create such infrastructure in post offices across the country. In Bengal circle, there are around 1,768 full fledged post offices and 9,000 post offices including the branch post offices. Already 23 post offices have been installed with this facility. "We will soon make this facility available at all the 45 head post offices and 300 big sub-post offices across the state," Ghosh said. The West Bengal Circle of the department of Posts will be organising a number of programmes from Monday to mark the occasion of National Postal Week. The programs will continue till Saturday.
