Police recover firearms, arrest 3 miscreants at Suti

Kolkata: Murshidabad District Police have recovered multiple firearms and arrested three miscreants at Suti in Murshidabad on Sunday night.

In another incident, Bidhannagar Police nabbed a notorious criminal and seized and firearms and ammunition from him in Rajarhat.

According to sources, late on Sunday night police personnel from Suti police station were patrolling in the area.

When the police van was passing through the Dulal Kali Mandir area, sleuths saw three persons roaming suspiciously. Seeing police the trio tried to walk away. Smelling a rat police detained them and started questioning them.

As there were several ambiguities found on their versions, police searched their bags and found seven small firearms and two long-range fire arms along with total 22 rounds ammunition.

Immediately, they were arrested. During interrogation, it was revealed that those firearms were used in a murder case almost a year ago in Suti area. Later, those were buried to hide evidences from the police. Sleuths are probing to find out if they had planned another murder and dug out the fire arms. The police are also trying to find out who else are connected with the trio.

In another incident, a notorious criminal identified as Rajjak Molla has been arrested along with a pipe gun and two rounds of ammunition on Saturday night.

The police got a tip-off about Molla's presence in the area. A team from Rajarhat police station went to Huderaite Power House area and nabbed Molla. He is a notorious criminal used to operate in Rajarhat and some areas of South 24-Parganas adjacent to Rajarhat.
