Police personnel held in Sreerampore

Kolkata: A police personnel was arrested in Sreerampore for allegedly pasting hand written posters with cut money related statements against Member of Parliament (MP) Kalyan Banerjee.

According to sources, on July 30 night, several hand written posters were pasted

in Rishra and Sreerampore area alleging Banerjee had taken

cut money.

Also, derogatory an unparliamentary words were used to write the posters. Later, a complaint was lodged at the Sreerampore police station following which Chandannagar Police Commissionerate initiated a detailed probe.

During investigation, police scrutinised some CCTV camera footages and found a few persons pasting those posters.

The suspects had come riding a car on which police sticker was attached.

During the probe, police identified the car's registration number and detained the car along with its driver identified as Amiya Khamaru few days ago.

During interrogation Khamaru revealed that the car is being used at the District Intelligence Branch (DIB) and Officer in Charge (OC) Watch Section Samir Sarkar used to ride the said vehicle.

Based on Khamaru's statement, Sarkar was called for interrogation at the Chandannagar Police Commissionerate. But Sarkar did not appear before the investigating officials.

Later on August 4, he was detained and was interrogated. Though he was allowed to leave but he was again called on Tuesday and was arrested.
