Police bust sleaze racket in Patuli, 13 arrested

Kolkata: Police arrested 13 persons late night on Tuesday including three women on charges of running a sleaze racket at Patuli in the southern fringes of the city.
Acting on a tip-off, a team comprising policemen from the local police station conducted a raid in a spa centre at Patuli and arrested the accused.
The police arrested the prime accused, Sandip Das, who had been running the sleaze racket for the past few months.
Police came to know from local people that initially, people used to visit the spa centre only during the day and evening. But for the past few weeks, local people noticed people coming there round the clock which led to their suspicion.
The police had been keeping a watch on the movements of people visiting the spa centre and finally conducted a raid late night on Tuesday.
They arrested 13 people including 10 women from the spa that had been running in a flat housed in the ground floor of a three-storeyed building. Police came to know that Sandip had taken the flat on rent and he was the main person behind the sleaze racket. The police suspect that there are some more persons who were involved in the racket. The police are trying to find the rest. The police will also be questioning the owner of the flat from whom Sandip had taken it on rent. The investigating officers will try to know whether the owner was aware that Sandip was running a sleaze racket in the flat.
