People's cooperation required to end terrorism, insurgency: Surajit Kar Purkayastha

Kolkata: Surajit Kar Purkayastha, Director General of Police on Wednesday said people's cooperation is always required to end terrorism and insurgencies.
He was addressing a gathering to welcome 32 National Security Group (NSG) commandoes on 15 motor cycles who had arrived in the city on Wednesday.
They will cover 7,000 km spreading over 13 states to celebrate 33 years of NSG. The motorcycle expedition which is the first of its kind was flagged off by the Minister of state for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju at Manasar, Gurugram on September 7.
The motto behind the expedition is to spread awareness among people against terrorism and build their unity.
Kar Purkayastha said because of misinformation many youth had distanced themselves from the mainstream of life and are engaged in destruction. People should be united to fight against terrorism . He said the Kolkata Police have Special Task Force (STF) and state police have force to combat insurgency.
Arup Raha, former Air Chief Marshal said the NSG commandoes not only fight against terrorists but they work to prevent sabotage. He also stressed the need of people's participation to end terrorism.
After passing through Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Chennai and Hyderabad, the motorcycle expedition reached Kolkata on its way back to Manesar.
