Kolkata: The Mamata Banerjee government will incorporate people working with cable television operators under its ongoing Swasthya Sathi Scheme.

In case a person suffers from diseases like cancer, liver disease, blood disorder or need to undergo neuro surgery or cardio thoracic surgeries then the coverage will go up to Rs 5 lakh.
Later, the Chief Minister had also decided to extend the benefits of the scheme to retired sports personalities and technicians from the film and television industry.
Apart from the Swasthya Sathi scheme, people involved with the cable operators can also get enrolled under the Samajik Suraksha Yojana. A beneficiary has to give Rs 25 and the state government gives Rs 30 and the person gets Rs 2 lakh after the age of 60 years and a pension of Rs 1,500 per month.
There are several other benefits under the scheme as well. One will also get Rs 25,000, once his or her daughter graduates from an educational institution.
