Penang Convention and Exhibition Bureau to hold road show in city

Kolkata: The Penang Convention and Exhibition Bureau (PCEB), an organisation from Malaysia will hold a road show in the city on Wednesday with an aim to promote Penang as one of the most important tourist destinations in the country.
PCEB aims to emerge Penang as a preferred location for business activities and also to make people aware about the business potentials of the sea town. Apart from the city, the PCEB will also conduct road shows in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore on January 19, January 22 and January 24 respectively to attract tourists.
Penang is a world-class travel destination, one that is famous for its unique offerings of a modern international island city, a UNESCO world heritage site, lush-green rain forests, beautiful hill stations, shopping galore and fabulous food. The Northern Malaysian state is also a rising business event destination. Presently, Penang is the top ranked second-tier destination in Malaysia in the International Congress and Convention Association. In 2016, Penang recorded 1,251 events with an estimated economic impact of $200 million.
"India is one of the top five markets for business events in Penang, and over the past year, we have received encouraging interest from event planners and conference organisers," said Ashwin Gunasekeran, the Chief Executive Officer of PCEB.
