PC Chandra honours Nobel laureate Kailash Satyarthi

P C Chandra Puraskaar 2017 was awarded to Nobel Laureate Kailash Satyarthi on Sunday. Satyarthi, who has been at the forefront of the global movement to end child slavery and exploitative child labour since 1980, received the award at the Science City auditorium.

Swami Suparnananda Maharaj, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture was the chief guest along with the renowned author Sirshendu Mukhopadhyay as the guest of honour for the evening. A K Chandra, managing director of the P C Chandra Group and Prosanto Chandra, joint managing director, P C Chandra Jewellers were also present in the occasion.

This year the P C Chandra Puraskaar carries an honorarium of Rs 10 lakh which is tax exempted.

"This Puraskaar is given on the occasion of the birth anniversary of our founding father. Apart from being a great visionary, late Purna Chandra Chandra was also a man of great values," said A K Chandra.

"We are extremely pleased and honoured that this year when we are celebrating the 25th year of honouring excellence, by awarding Satyarthiji. He is not only a great visionary but also a great human being. Today the world where we are living needs men like him to make it a better place. The work which he is doing towards the betterment of each and every child inspires all of us," A K Chandra added.
