Patient's relative robbed off at Malda hospital

Kolkata: A relative of a patient undergoing treatment at Malda Medical College and Hospital was robbed off by some miscreants during his short stay at the hospital on Monday night.

It was learnt from the police that the accused made the victim Santosh Let unconscious by giving him spiked food. Then they robbed the victim of Rs 10,000 which Santosh was carrying in his wallet. Santosh had admitted his pregnant wife Gayetri Let to the hospital. The incident triggered tension in the hospital.

Hospital authorities said that the woman had given birth to a boy child on Sunday. The woman's husband decided to stay at the hospital on Sunday night. When he was spending his time at the hospital some people had fed him spiked food following which, he fell unconscious. The accused looted Rs 10,000 from his wallet and also the mobile phone and some other important documents. When the victim gained consciousness, he found that money and other valuables were missing. He informed the matter to the hospital authorities.

It may be said that there were similar incidents at Malda Medical College and Hospital in previous occasions too. It had been a major cause of concern for the hospital as there were repeated incidents. A senior official of the hospital said that they are looking into the matter.

Police are also looking into the matter. They have started a probe in this regard.
