Patient's body found hanging in bathroom of hospital
Kolkata: A patient was found hanging in the bathroom of Vivekananda Hospital under Parnashree police station area in Behala in the wee hours on Tuesday.
The victim Prabir Naskar (38) of Asuti Satyakhan Para, in Maheshtala was found hanging with a gamcha tied to the tap inside the bathroom of at the ground floor of the hospital.
Naskar was admitted in the hospital last Wednesday with history of mental depression and was undergoing treatment under Doctor Ashoke Ghosh.
He was first seen by the on-duty nursing staff who raised an alarm. He was rushed to Vidyasagar Hospital where he was declared brought dead.
Police enquiry revealed that earlier also the patient had attempted suicide twice. He was a private tutor.
"There has been no complaints on the part of his family members. An unnatural death case has been started," Meeraj Khalid, deputy commissioner (South-West) Kolkata Police said.
In another case of suspected suicide, the Haridevpur police station recovered the body of Rajdip Mallick (30), which was found hanging from the ceiling fan of his bedroom.
A resident of Motilal Gupta Road, Mallick was immediately removed to MR Bangur Hospital where he was declared brought dead.
During enquiry, it was found that the deceased was a computer teacher of a local school. "The door of the bedroom was bolted from inside. We have detected no foul play and there has been no complaint about the death," an officer of Haridevpur police station said.
