Patient dies: Kin alleges negligence, ransacks nursing home

Kolkata: A mob on Sunday ransacked a private nursing home at Cooch Behar and beat up the staff members following the death of a patient.
The family members of the victim also put up a roadblock alleging that medical negligence led to the death of the patient.
Some of the staff members of the nursing home left the hospital during the agitation. It was learnt that the victim, Madhusudan Nag, a resident of Moamari area of Cooch Behar was admitted to the hospital with a leg injury.
His condition deteriorated on late Saturday night and he died in the nursing home on early Sunday morning.
The other patients admitted to the private nursing
home had faced inconveniences as the staff members fled the spot following the agitation by the victim's family members.
The family members alleged that the patient's condition deteriorated because he was administered wrong injection. They also demand a high-level inquiry into the death of the patient.
After being informed, police reached the spot and brought the situation under control.
