Partha seeks report from district president over Rishra incident

Kolkata: Partha Chatterjee, Secretary General of Trinamool Congress, sought a report from the party's district president in connection with the incident at Rishra Bidhanchandra College.
When asked about the issue during a Press conference, Chatterjee said: "I was told that the video is not a current one but a bit older. However, I have asked the district president of the party to give a report in this connection."
Allegation of harassment and beating up a girl student of the college has cropped up against the general secretary of the students' union of the college, Sahid Hasan.
A video footage showing Hasan slapping the girl inside the office of the students' union of the college has become public. The footage was captured in a surveillance camera installed in the office of the students' union.
The girl alleged that she was being beaten up as she "had not accepted some of his indecent proposals". She said that on the day of the incident, the video footage of which has become public, Sahid had taken away her mobile phone and then manhandled her.
She claimed that she had not lodged any complaint against Sahid as she was traumatised. She finally went to the police on Wednesday, apprehending repetition of a similar incident with her.
The girl also alleged that some close aides of Sahid also went to her house on Thursday morning and she was being threatened.
A complaint has also being lodged by the girl with Rishra police station in this connection and the college authorities have assured to look into the matter once they receive a complaint.
Subsequently, Sahid resigned from the post of general secretary of the students' union. Despite resigning from the post, Sahid had refuted all allegations and claimed that he was being framed for political reasons.
