Partha inaugurates smart classroom for footpath children

Kolkata: State Education minister Partha Chatterjee inaugurated a smart classroom under Nabadisha school project of Kolkata Police to commemorate the occasion of Children's Day on Tuesday.
The room adjacent to the Tollygunge police station hosted a school for footpath children. "We have taken a lot of initiatives like setting up night shelters for the footpath-dwellers. However, the state government alone cannot do this We need support from NGOs and similar organisations for such endeavours. The Chinese Consulate in the city has also extended support in transforming this classroom into a smart one," Chatterjee said assuring of all help from the government in such activities.
"Classrooms need to have activities like dance and play, painting, audio-visual aids, indoor educational games, tables and chairs, drinking water facilities for children to make them feel interested to attend classes," Chaitali Das, managing trustee of the NGO said.
