Part of old building collapses at AJC Bose Road

Kolkata: A part of an old building collapsed at AJC Bose Road under Taltala police station area in Central Kolkata on Tuesday morning. Though there was no injury, a car that was stationed just adjacent to the building was badly damaged.
A part of the cornice of the building caved in and a huge chunk of bricks fell on the car damaging its front portion as well as the front glass. However, luckily as there was no person walking along the footpath beside the building at that time, there was no reports of injury.
Councillor of Ward 53, Indrani Saha Banerjee said that it was difficult to understand from outside that the two storeyed building was in such a bad condition.
"There is an internal family dispute among the residents of the building. We, on the part of Kolkata Municipal Corporation had declared the building as dangerous and urged the residents a number of times to vacate the building but they refused."
The residents allegedly resisted the KMC officials when they went to put the 'dangerous board' on the building.
According to local sources, one of the family member of the building was suffering from some mental problem.
A scribe from a private news portal who went there to cover the news was also manhandled by the residents.
