Owner asks rape victim to leave house

Kolkata: The 25-year-old woman who was allegedly raped when she had gone to attend her friend's birthday party in Jadavpur on Tuesday was asked to leave the place where she was staying as a paying guest on Thursday evening.
Presently, she is staying at one of her friend's house a few kilometers away from her Beliaghata address.
It may be mentioned that a team of police from Jadavpur police station has visited her Beleghata address on Thursday for questioning her in regards to the investigation of the case.
Soon after the sleuths left, the owner of the house told her to leave the place saying that the other paying guests and people in the locality have raised objections against her stay.
The girl tried to make him understand by taking a stand and stating the circumstances in which she had lodged her complaint but the house owner was adamant.
"I have been living peacefully here for the last five months and there has been no objections from any other paying guests or from the people in the locality. But now I am in distress and I am forced to search for another place," the victim said.
The woman who is pursuing a degree from an open university has shifted to one of her friend's house and is looking for an alternative place for lodging.
The accused Biswajit Debnath has already been arrested by police and a case of rape under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code has been initiated against him.
