OUP unveils 8 new titles for CU BCom courses

Kolkata: Oxford University Press (OUP) India has unveiled eight new titles for B.Com courses as per CBCS syllabus 2017 for the University of Calcutta. The textbooks for BCom (General and Honours) courses have been specially designed to adhere to the new six-semester three-year 2017 course syllabus under Choice Based Credit System (CBCS).
The CBCS curriculum will come into effect from the 2017-18 session, after a period of six years with the last syllabus change having taken place in the academic year 2010-11.
All eight new titles – Financial Accounting I, Business Laws, Principles of Management, Microeconomics and Statistics for First Year, Indian Financial System, Auditing, Information Technology and its Applications in Business and Economics II and Advance Business Mathematics for Second Year are listed as recommended readings in the syllabus.
"Students taking up Honours subjects in Commerce will now have to appear in a 2,600-marks examination spread over six semesters instead of the 1,800 which was the norm till now. Similarly, for students going for the Pass courses, the marks will be 2,300 instead of 1600," a top CU official said.
University-specific B.Com titles are a first for OUP and these eight titles have been specifically designed for the University of Calcutta.
