Optical fibre scopes coming to Nabanna to bolster security

Kolkata: In a bid to further strengthen the security arrangement in the state Secretariat Nabanna, a decision has been taken to install optical fibre scopes in the building.
With installation of the optical fibre scopes, video of a moment along with sound will get captured and will help security officers get minute details of the place that will get captured in the video.
Sources said that video footages that get captured through optical fibre scope will be monitored from the control room in Nabanna itself.
According to senior officers in the state secretariat, the step has been taken considering the need to further enhance the security arrangement in Nabanna, where everyday there is constant movement of VVIPs.
The 14-storeyed building houses the office of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and senior officials, including the Chief Secretary, Home Secretary and Director General of police.
The optical fibre scope will be installed at strategic locations and the places have been identified by the expert policemen who look after the security of Nabanna.
It may be mentioned that the state secretariat is under the coverage of surveillance cameras. A decision was also taken to set up separate dog squads, especially for security of the state secretariat. With setting up of dog squads, there will be a separate team for the security of Nabanna.
Recently, 244 CCTV cameras
were installed and it took the total number of CCTV cameras in to around 400.
The step to install more CCTV cameras was taken to bring each and every place in and around the state secretariat under the coverage of surveillance cameras.
The CCTV cameras were installed both inside and outside the building. Cameras were also installed at parking lots.
A survey was conducted to identify the places where the CCTV cameras need to be installed and based on the same, the work of installing the cameras was carried out.
