Online e-Pension system for teachers, non-teaching staff launched

Kolkata: State Higher Education minister Partha Chatterjee inaugurated the e-Pension website at Bikash Bhawan on Tuesday. The portal is dedicated to initiating the pension process for the teachers and non-teaching staff of Grant-in-Aid Colleges falling under the administrative control of the department of Higher Education, Science and Technology and Biotechnology.
In another development, for the success of the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS), the Higher Education department might reduce the number of leaves of the teachers, Chatterjee hinted at the meeting.
The portal, designed, developed and maintained by the National Informatics Centre, West Bengal state unit, will serve around 17,000 regular employees of the colleges who will be covered by the application software.
The objectives of launching the portal is to provide an early alert to start the pension process, preparation of employees' profiles from the beginning of their services, for receiving an alert of profile-related changes, pension status tracking process, maintain the pension processing time.
This will also help the teachers and non-teaching staff to prepare e-service books in future and to enhance transparency at the employee level.
