One killed, 3 injured in 2 separate road accidents

Kolkata: A 42-year-old man was killed after coming under the wheels of a speeding truck on Ekbalpore road on Monday night and three persons were injured when a truck overturned after hitting three vehicles near Moulali on Tuesday morning.
The first incident took place when the victim, Nadim Ahmed Khan (42) was crossing the road. An Alipore bound government-run bus from Esplanade hit him from behind. When he fell on the road, the rear wheels of the bus crushed him. The driver could not control the vehicle as it was at a high speed. The victim was declared brought dead after being taken to a private hospital at Ekbalpore. The bus driver was arrested following the incident and the bus was seized by the police. Police have started a detailed probe into the incident.
In the other incident, three persons have been injured one of them critically, after a truck overturned near Moulali More after hitting three vehicles one after the other on Tuesday morning. The incident not only sparked tension among locals but also led to traffic congestion in the area.
According to police, the loaded truck was plying at a high speed when the driver lost control over the vehicle near Moulali More and hit three goods vehicles one after the other before it turned turtle. It was learnt that two persons who were travelling in the truck were among the injured. One of the two has sustained critical injuries in the accident.
Locals and police rushed the injured victims to NRS Medical College and Hospital.There was a huge traffic jam in the area as the truck remained overturned on the road for nearly 3 hours after which it was removed from the place. The traffic movement was restored gradually .
