One arrested for woman's death at Domjur in Howrah

Kolkata: A person has been arrested in connection with the alleged murder of a woman who was found dead in a bush at Domjur in Howrah on Sunday night.

The arrested youth was identified as Sujit Malik alias Fata. He resides in the same area where the woman lived. He has been remanded to eight days police custody on Wednesday by the Howrah Court.According to sources, Malik was the first person, who had found the woman's body in the bush. He informed the woman's family and the police about the body. After starting the probe, the police came to know that the woman was close to Malik and she was seen meeting him often.

While questioning the locals, a few of them informed the police that they had seen Malik talking to the woman on Sunday evening.

As Malik was the person with whom the woman met often, police detained him on suspicion.

During interrogation, police found ambiguities in Malik's statement.

He reportedly failed to inform his location between the time when the woman went missing and her body was found. The police are interrogating him further.

The woman was found dead at Katlia Sasthitala at Domjur in Howrah on Sunday night.

The deceased woman aged about 25 years was found naked in a bush.

According to a source, the woman was missing since Sunday afternoon and her family couldn't find her after desperately searching for her in their locality.

When they were about to approach the police, they came to know from a few local residents that a woman was found lying unconscious in a nearby bush. They rushed to the spot and found the missing woman was lying in the bush. Police are waiting for the autopsy report to ascertain the cause of the woman's death.
