One arrested for stealing diamond necklace

Kolkata: A person was arrested from Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International (NSCBI) Airport in Kolkata on Wednesday for allegedly stealing a diamond necklace from a jewellery shop. According to police, on August 23 the owner of the shop had lodged a complaint that one of his employees, identified as Sakil Hussain, had stolen a diamond necklace which a customer had given for polishing. During probe, police got in touch with the owner of the necklace and came to know that there are 97 pieces of diamonds in the necklace. During investigation, police came to know that Hussain had got the job there after persuasion by another person identified as Mannan Shaikh. After getting the information, police tried to track Shaikh but found that he is in Mumbai. On Tuesday night, police personnel from Girish Park police station conducted a raid in Shaikh's house at Guptipara in Hooghly and recovered the diamond necklace. Shaikh had reportedly buried it 3 feet below the clay floor of his room.

Later on Wednesday evening, he was arrested as soon as he reached Kolkata. Police came to know that Shaikh had planted Hussain to steal valuable jewellery from the shop.
