One arrested for duping people of crores

Kolkata: Cops from the New Town police station arrested an official of a private company that had advertised to offer franchise to various companies and had cheated them to the tune of a few crores. One Ashis Biswas was apprehended on the basis of a complaint of one Samrat Saha of Kazipara Barasat.
Saha had lodged a complaint against the Board of Directors of the company named Chota Bazar that had its established office at Eco Suits Building at New Town. At least 200 persons from all over Bengal had taken franchise from this company after depositing Rs 1 to 20 lakh as security deposits on conditions to supply grocery goods.
However, soon after taking the money, the Board of Directors — Ajoy Singh, project head, Aakash Singh Director and Mukesh Singh MD didn't meet them and switched off their mobiles. The persons who had paid them money soon realised that they have been duped and accordingly lodged a complaint at New Town police station naming the three and others for misappropriating huge amounts of money.
