Ola driver arrested for molesting woman

Kolkata: Bidhannagar Police have arrested an Ola driver on the charges of molesting an IT employee.

The accused also snatched the mobile phone of the victim. The incident took place on early August 26 morning after the victim boarded the Ola cab from near airport gate number 1. The victim told the police that she sat on the front seat beside the driver.

After boarding the cab she was talking on her mobile phone. A few minutes after she started her journey, the accused Ola driver tried to touch her inappropriately. When she protested against the incident, the accused snatched her mobile phone.

The woman started screaming and asked the driver Raju Sardar to stop the vehicle. Few minutes later, the accused stopped the car. As the woman got down from the car, the accused driver fled from the spot with her mobile phone. The victim drew attention of the local residents but nothing happened. The accused soon disappeared from the spot along with his vehicle.

The victim later lodged a complaint at the New Town police station on the basis of which police started a probe. After carrying out an investigation, police finally managed to arrest the accused driver from the Patharghata area of New Town. Police have also recovered her mobile phone from his possession.
