'Officers from CBI, ED were in touch with arrested bizman'

Kolkata: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials found that seven officers including five from the Central investigating agencies were well-connected with arrested businessman Sudipta Roy Chowdhury. He was arrested by the ED in connection with the Rose Valley case on November 3 after a detailed search at his residence and office premises.

Sources informed that after Roy Chowdhury's arrest, ED sleuths checked with documents that were seized from his residence. Also, his call records were scrutinised thoroughly. From there, the investigators found that several police officers including three from the CBI and two from ED, were in touch with Roy Chowdhury. Rest two are from the police.

It was alleged that these officers were helping Roy Chowdhury by informing him about the trail of investigation. Also, they tried to hide Roy Chowdhury's involvement to a great extent. According to sources, ED sleuths may call these officials for further investigation.

Roy Chowdhury was arrested on November 3. During the investigation process, it was found that he used to be a senior officer in Brand Value Communications which was owned by Rose Valley. It was alleged that Roy Chowdhury had extorted money from people promising to settle their matters in several chit fund cases which are being investigated by the CBI and ED.
