Nusrat flags off bus service from Basanti to Basirhat

Kolkata: Trinamool Congress MP from Basirhat Nusrat Jahan on Saturday flagged off bus service from Nebukhali village of Basanti to Badartala in Basirhat. The bus will travel via Hasnabad and there will be 20 services every day. 18 services have already been made operational.

"The bus service will immensely help people residing in remote islands of the Sunderbans in communication," Nusrat said.

It may be mentioned that villagers in the Sunderbans, particularly those from Kanchannagar under Hemnagar police station, Kalitala, Jogeshganj will bear the fruits of the bus services. They will cross River Sahebkhali from Dugdugi area, take a bus from Nebukhali bus stand and travel directly to Badartala in Basirhat without any hassle.

People had to change several times to travel between these two destinations.

A super-specialty hospital has come up at Badartala in Basirhat and people from the Sunderbans have to travel for availing good healthcare services. The first bus service will be available from Nebukhali at 5 am. The last bus from Badartala will start at around 8.45 pm in the night. The fare from Nebukhali to Badartala has been fixed at Rs 36 while that from Hasnabad to Nebukhali is Rs 22.

Nusrat also assured the people of her constituency that a bridge will be soon set up on the river flowing through Hasnabad.

Apart from Nusrat, MLA from Basirhat South, Dipendu Biswas, Hingalganj MLA Debesh Mondal and few other leaders at the Panchayat level were present at the inaugural programme.
