NTESCL's customer care centre at New Town Action Area-III inaugurated

State Power minister Sobhandeb Chattopadhyay on Monday inaugurated the customer care centre of the New Town Electric Supply Company Limited (NTESCL) in Action Area-III.

Around 11,264 consumers in the Action Area-III would now be able to submit their electricity bills at the newly-inaugurated call centre housed at a 5,000 square feet building that has come up on plot number 1232 in the Action Area 3C in New Town. Till now, people residing in the Action Area-III had to go to the customer care of NTESCL at the Action Area-I near the Axis Mall. The customers can also submit their applications at this centre for a new connection. If a customer faces any problems related to the electricity connection, he or she can personally come down to the customer care centre to get the problem resolved.

It may be mentioned that people residing under Action Area-II can also submit their electricity bills at this customer care centre till the completion of a new customer care centre at the Action Area-II. Consumers can collect their prepaid coupons from the customer care centre while post paid customers will pay the bills on the basis of the consumption of electricity. There are around 4,478 prepaid consumers in Action Area-III while the number of post paid consumers stands at 6,786. The total amount of revenue collected from the area in the last year was around Rs 47 lakh. However, customers can also pay their bills online by visiting the NTESCL's website. After inaugurating the customer care centre, Chattopadhyay said that the state government has been able to ensure electricity to 1.72 crore people in the state. The present government has stressed on the development of power infrastructure in the state. Following the instructions of the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, the Power department has been implementing "Aloshree" projects and the rural electrification work is on the verge of completion.

Earlier, a customer care centre of the NTESCL was inaugurated in Action area-I in February this year. Soon, another new customer care centre will also be set up at Action Area-IIC. With this, consumers will be immensely benefitted through the system as the people living in Action Area-III will no longer require to visit the customer care centre at Action Area-I. There are altogether 32,788 consumers in action areas I, II and III.

Debashis Sen, Chairman, WBHIDCO and Rajesh Pandey, CMD, WBSEDCL were also present at the inauguration programme on Monday.
