Now, a studio, museum, conference centre under one roof

Kolkata: The state government has decided to construct a studio, museum and conference centre under one roof at Tollygunge.
Sources said that the state Public Works Department has been given the responsibility to construct the structure on a plot of around 53 acre at Centenary Cinema Campus inside a film studio. It is learnt that the project will be developed at a cost of Rs 21.38 crore and the task of preparing the detailed project report has already been given to a private company.
All the three studios, museum and conference centre will be housed in the six storeyed building that will be constructed on the plot.
It may be mentioned that this is the first time when a museum, a studio and a conference centre is coming up under one roof. It will be of great benefit for the cinema industry. According to an official of the state PWD, a museum for the Bengali film industry will come up. "It will be of great attraction as people who will come to the studio will also get an opportunity to learn more from the museum. Moreover, a conference centre was also essential for the film industry that they will be available in the six-storeyed building." There will be all sorts of modern amenities available there. There will be adequate space for parking.
At the same time there will be dedicated areas for food and other amenities. The PWD official said that the building will be of unique design and the process of starting the construction work of the building will start without any delay after the DPR is submitted. The studio with modern facilities will also be an attraction and make the place more commercially viable and it will come up as a landmark in the area, the official said.
