North 24-Pgns get auditorium with advanced sound system

Kolkata: The state government has set up Varnaporichoy , which is a world class auditorium, at Gadapota in North 24-Parganas at an estimated cost of Rs 1.20 crore.

People of North 24-Parganas had a long-standing demand for an auditorium in the area as the group theatres were often performed on a makeshift structure.

People in the Panchayat area of Gadapota organise dramas and theatres on a number of occasions.

They had urged the district administration to set up an auditorium in the area.

People and theatre persons thanked the state government for coming up with a world-class auditorium with 320 seats. It has an advanced sound system.

The district administration had started the project three years ago.

"We are thankful to the state government and the district administration for fulfilling our demands. We organise 2-3 theatre events in the area per year. Earlier, we

used to stage play in the open air and spectators often had difficulties. The new auditorium that has come up is equipped with various modern facilities," said theatre artist Mridul Biswas.
