Nominations filed in exemplary peace at Cooch Behar Block II

Kolkata: At a time when allegations of violence involving workers of ruling and Opposition parties have been reported from different parts in the state, Cooch Behar Block no. II stands out to be an exception, where the candidates of both ruling and Opposition parties filed their nomination peacefully on Monday afternoon, which was the last day for filing nominations.
The BJP and Left Front have fielded their candidates in all the seats of Gram Panchayat, Panchayat Samity and Zilla Parishad. The whole area took the form of celebration, with the candidates of all the parties going together to file nomination.
Sukumar Das, secretary of BJP's Cooch Behar district unit, said the election will be completed peacefully in the area. "There are political differences but the election will be held in the area peacefully," he maintained, adding "when incidents of violence have been reported from various parts of Bengal, Cooch Behar Block II has set an example which will be followed in other parts of the state."
The candidates of Trinamool Congress were found sharing the same room with the Opposition parties, during the filing of the nomination papers.
