NKDA issues its first birth certificate since inception

KOLKATA: Since the inception of New Town a decade ago, the first birth certificate was issued by the New Town Kolkata Development Authority (NKDA) on Wednesday.
The birth certificates will be issued online and there is no need to visit the office of NKDA to collect it. The reason for not issuing birth certificates by NKDA, even though the township is more than a decade old, is that none of the hospitals set up in New Town had a Gynaecology department.
Recently, Bhagirathi Neotia Women and Child Centre has come up in New Town and babies have been born at the institute. Accordingly, NKDA had to gear up for issuing birth certificates.
Only the identity proof and hospital document, which includes a birth certificate issued by the doctor, will be required, after which a digitally signed certificate will be issued. The applicant will have to log on to www.nkdamar.org.
The system will benefit the young parents immensely. Parents have been requested to register the birth of their ward and obtain birth certificates early. As the certificate will be issued online, it will be entirely hassle-free.
