NIELIT opens centre at Bolpur IT Park

Kolkata: National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) of Jadavpur University on Wednesday opened its centre at Bolpur's IT park.
It was decided at the Bengal Global Business Summit (BGBS), 2016 that skill development centres will be set up in the districts. It is the first venture of its kind. Debashis Sen, additional chief secretary in charge of IT department along with the district magistrate and other senior officials of Birbhum district administration were present at the inaugural function. Teachers of different colleges also attended the function. The centre has created a flutter among the students as those who receive diploma from the centre have a good job prospect. To encourage students, the state government is giving subsidy on the course fee.
The centre's thrust areas included T ('O', 'A' and 'B' level), course, Bio Infomatics (O, A and B level) course, CCC and BCC courses, Information Security course, ITES BPO call centre training programme, animation and multimedia (O and A levels) (under programme) courses.
NIELIT was a part of DOEACC Society from December 14, 2002. Prior to this, DOEACC Society was a part of Regional Computer Centre (RCC) Jadavpur University which was one of the oldest IT houses in eastern region imparting IT education and training.
RCC was set up in 1976 as a Regional Scientific Society (autonomous body) by the Central and state governments. In December 2002, RCC was merged with DOEACC Society, an autonomous scientific society of department of Electronics and Information Technology under the ministry of Communications and Information Technology.
