Body of a Japanese engineer was found in a hotel room at New Town on Saturday afternoon. The man has been identified as Hori Masanori (65) and was found at his room in the hotel.

The hotel staff broke the lock of the door of the room to see the man lying dead there. The Bidhannagar City Police was called up by the hotel authority and sent his body for post-mortem.

Police learnt that the Japanese national was sent to the city by his company as an engineering consultant. He was looking after some of the construction projects in the city. The hotel room was booked by the company in the name of Hori Masanori.

Police also learnt that Masanori took the rented room on February 8. He was called by his company officials on his personal number time and again. But he did not respond to the calls.

The officials called up the hotel authority to inform that the engineer was not responding to the calls. The hotel authority knocked on his door but even they could not get any response from his room. They then broke open the lock and entered inside the room.

The police, however, could not spot any injury marks on his body. An unnatural death case was initiated. The investigators are looking into the CCTV footage of the hotel. The footage could reveal some information to the police.
