Udayan killed his own parents, buried them in garden at Chhattisgarh home

Udayan Das who was arrested by the Bhopal police on the charges of murdering his live-in partner has made a startling revelation that he had also murdered his parents and buried their bodies inside the garden of their house at Raipur in Chhattisgarh.

Police are verifying his statements. When asked about his parents, Das told the investigating officers that his father had died earlier while his mother has been staying in America. When the police asked about her address and the contact number, Das failed to provide so.

He also told the police that he had gone to America to meet his mother. But the police have found after going though his passport that he had never gone abroad. The investigating officers also found that there are a lot of irregularities in the statement of Das.

As per the preliminary investigation, police suspect that the Das is psychiatric patient. Bhopal police recovered the body of Akansha Sharma (28) who had been into a live-in relationship with Das from June last year. Sharma was from Bankura. Her body was kept in a steel trunk buried inside a concrete tomb in the kitchen of her live-in partner's house.

The victim had told her parents that she got a job in US and was going there. But it came to light that she never went to USA and started living with Das in his Saket Nagar home in Bhopal. Das is an IIT graduate, sources said. Bankura police started an investigation after the victim's family members lodged complaint in the local police station after repeatedly failing to contact their daughter.

The woman lied to her parents and travelled to New Delhi with Das who took her to Bhopal, a senior police officer in Bankura said.

Akansha used to send messages to her family till December. After being unable to contact his daughter for a long time, bank manager Shivendra Sharma lodged a complaint with the police on January 5, accusing Das of kidnapping her.

According to the police, differences cropped up between Akansha and Das as he started suspecting her of having affair with someone else. During an altercation, Das allegedly strangled her to death. The accused later packed the body ina trunk, which was later cemented with marble. According to reports he also murdered his parents due to their problems with his lifestyle.

On Thursday afternoon, police personnel from Bankura police and Bhopal's Gobinda Nagar jointly raided Das's rented house. The body was recovered at around 6 am after a night-long search. Das was arrested, and during interrogation, he confessed to the murder.

The police suspected that the murder took place a long time ago. They said that the duo had met on Facebook around eight months ago and became friends.

Soon after, they entered into a relationship. Das's father worked at a Central PSU, while his mother retired as a deputy superintendent of police in Chhattisgarh. Das is being taken to Raipur on transit remand. He was earlier brought on a transit remand to Bankura.
