New Mother and Child Hub gets tremendous response

The Mother and Child Hub which was inaugurated at the Calcutta Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) by the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday has seen an overwhelming response from the patients on Saturday with around 20 children getting admission in the hub.

The CMCH is the first hospital in the state to get a mother and child hub.

Two such hubs have already come up in Nadia and Murshidabad. They were already inaugurated.

This is a joint initiative of the Centre and the state government under which the hub would be developed like a multi-super speciality hospital.
The hub is equipped with all the modern facilities, as a result of which the patients will be able to get various health services under one roof. The new building which will house the hub will have Cardiology, Plastic Surgery and Neurosurgery.

The 10 storey building housing the Mother Child Hub is equipped with modern infrastructure. Separate ICU has come up for children.
A Special Task Force has been formed with the doctors from the Gynaecology and Obstetrics department. It will monitor the functioning of the hub and will also ensure that the babies get the best treatment.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had stressed on the importance of setting up a mother and child hub at various state run hospitals.
In the hub there are separate critical care units for the babies.

Most of the state-run hospitals have seen a sea change as per as the health infrastructure is concerned.
