Police personnel injured in clash at Bashberia village

A police personnel was injured when a clash broke out between two groups over the possession of a vested land Bashberia village under Hoghlaberia police station in Nadia on Tuesday morning. The area turned into a battlefield when members of both the groups hurled bombs at each other. The local residents, however, managed to catch some of the trouble makers who were later handed over to the police. Police have arrested two persons in this connection so far. Both the group members were quarrelling over the possession of the land for the past few months as both the groups claimed their ownership. Things turned ugly when the both the group members engaged in a hot altercation on Tuesday morning.

They later clashed with each other. Both the group pelted stones on the other group. Both the group members were also equipped with arms. Some members from both the groups were injured in the incident. After hearing about the incident, a huge contingent of police rushed to the spot to bring the situation under control. A mob pelted stones at the police and a police sub-inspector received injuries in the incident. He was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. He was later released from the hospital after primary treatment. Some of the troublemakers were subjected to public wrath after some local residents attacked them. Police brought the situation under control. Police are conducting raids to nab the other culprits who were involved in the incident. It may be mentioned that eleven persons were injured, in a clash between two groups at South 24 Parganas Basanti area on January 17. Police said the two factions clashed over domination of a specific area.
