Parents agitate outside hospital after death of three-year-old

Family members of a three-year-old boy staged an agitation outside the Dr BC Roy memorial Hospital for Children on Sunday morning, after the boy lost his life due to alleged medical negligence.

The boy, Rupam Sardar, was a resident of Basirhat in North 24 Parganas.

Rupam had been admitted to the hospital on January 19.

Meanwhile, Dr Dilip Kumar Pal, superintendent of the hospital, said: "The allegations brought by the family members of the boy are not correct. The boy was suffering from high fever in the morning. Thus, the nurses put cold water on him. He was suffering from pneumonia."

Rupam's family members alleged that there was no senior doctor present at the hospital since the morning and a junior doctor had attended to him on Sunday.
As a result, they had failed to understand what went wrong with Rupam.

The agitation continued for around an hour in the hospital after the boy's parents came to know about his death.
