Newly-wed woman found dead in Noapara

Kolkata: A woman was found dead inside her in-laws' house under mysterious circumstances, a day after her reception.
The incident occurred at Noapara in North 24-Parganas on Thursday morning. Her marriage was held on December 4 and she had her reception on Wednesday. Police have already arrested the victim's husband and elder brother-in-law in this connection so far.
Police said that the victim, Bebi Dhali, a resident of Jagaddal in the same district, got married to Subhankar Deb Roy of Noapara on December 4. After her reception on Wednesday night, family members of the victim on Thursday received phone calls saying that she had committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan.
After being informed, police reached the spot, recovered the body of the victim and sent it to BN Bose Hospital in Barrackpore for post-mortem. When the victim's husband went to the hospital, her family members beat him up. Police rescued the husband from the irate mob. The family members have lodged a complaint at the local police station in this connection.
The victim's husband claimed that the wife of his elder brother had created a ruckus over a broken vase during the reception. The family members of Bebi found this to be insulting for them, following which they left the reception ceremony.
Bebi's husband told her not to be depressed and the matter was settled there, said the husband during police investigation. He also said that on Thursday morning, when he had left for the market, Bebi was absolutely fine. After returning home, he found that the door was closed from inside. When they broke open the door, they found that the victim was hanging from the ceiling. The family members of the victim have alleged that she was humiliated after the altercation at the reception.
They claimed they were also humiliated at her in-laws' house. They expressed their shock over the incident and demanded a thorough inquiry into the incident.
