Neurological condition of Soumitra Chatterjee deteriorates

Kolkata: Veteran actor Soumitra Chatterjee's neurological condition deteriorated in the past 24 hours.

Neurology board panel said that improvement happened due to the application of steroids. The condition deteriorated after drugs were stopped. An MRI was conducted on the patient. Immunoglobulin and steroids have been started.

Iconic actor Soumitra Chatterjee's oxygen saturation levels have been consistent without support most of the time and his organs like heart and kidneys are functioning normally, sources in the hospital said. Heart rate and cardiac functions are good. His consciousness is not optimal.

He is fine on other various parameters.Doctors started music therapy and they were planning to read out books to him to make him feel better. This may help in psychological stimulation in the brain. Doctors in the hospital said that Chatterjee has not developed any new complications and does not have a fever. Chatterjee's health condition had improved significantly and doctors were planning to make him walk with support in a couple of days.
