Need help? Howrah City Police now live on Twitter

Kolkata: Taking a step ahead in making it easier for the common people to reach out to police for any help, the Howrah City Police has now gone live on Twitter.
Using this platform, one can easily seek help whenever they are in any distress.
It may be mentioned that the online platform through which one can reach out to the police has gone into effect with a post from the
Howrah City Police saying: "Howrah City Police is now live on Twitter. Reach us when in distress or otherwise. Committed to the service of its citizens. #hwhcitypolice."
A senior police officer said at
present one can dial 100 to seek
help of the police if/when they are in trouble.
The decision to go online has been taken now as most of the people use smart phones and they can easily key in their problems even if they are not in a situation to phone the police.
There are dedicated police officers posted at the control room of the Howrah City Police who will be monitoring the tweets and will contact the nearest police station so that they can rush to the spot.
According to a police officer,
policing at night has improved with more patrolling in different areas
under the jurisdiction of the Howrah City Police.
If a woman faces any problem despite of such improved policing, they can reach out to the police seeking help using the online platform.
At the same time, the online
platform will act as an important message to create awareness on different issues including "Safe Drive Save Life" and other social causes among the common people.
People can also drop in their suggestions so that police officers can ensure better policing.
