Narcotics dealers held with Yaba tablets

Kolkata: The Special Task Force (STF) of Kolkata Police nabbed two narcotics dealers opposite footpath of Salt Lake Stadium on Eastern Metropolitan (EM) Bypass and seized narcotics Amphetamine, commonly known as 'Yaba', in tablet form.

According to STF officials, a few days ago narcotics racketeers identified as Karibul Shaikh of English Bazar in Malda and Md Ismail Hossain of Chapainawabganj, Bangladesh were arrested from Durgapur Siding Road in Majherhat flyover area and seized 'Yaba' tablets weighing about 15 kg. After interrogating them, STF officials came to know about another narcotics racketeer identified as Md. Kamal Hossain of Malda's Kaliachalk from Strand Road on Saturday.

Following Kamal's arrest he and Karibul were grilled and police came up with another narcotics racketeer's involvement. Based on their statements, on Wednesday afternoon police detained two narcotics racketeers identified as Mohibur Rahman of Suti and Assabur Hossain of Raghunathgunj in Murshidabad.

During the search, police found around one lakh 'Yaba' tablets worth Rs 50 lakh approximately. Later, at night, the duo was arrested.

However, sources informed that senior Kolkata Police officials are showing concern over the recent huge seizures of narcotics made from various parts of the city.
