Narada case probe officer removed

Kolkata: An investigating officer of Enforcement Directorate (ED) involved in the probe of the Narada sting video case, was removed suddenly on Thursday and was transferred to Goods and Service Tax (GST) Bhavan. Nivedita Sengupta, who is the investigation officer of the case, was removed. However, ED is yet to decide on the new investigating officer of the case. "It is a routine transfer," a senior ED official said on Thursday. However, a section of ED officers believe that the investigation of the case will slow down due to the decision of Sengupta's sudden transfer. It may be mentioned that Sengupta, who was an officer of the Customs department, was brought to ED on deputation. "The time frame of the deputation was about to elapse in some days time. However, it was still more than a month's time for her term to end," an ED official said. Sengupta has made voice recordings of a number of accused in the Narada sting video case, during the course of the investigation. "He has been carrying out her duties in an effective manner. We are completely in dark about the transfer," a senior ED officer said.
