Mystery over Survey Park housewife's death

Kolkata: Mystery shrouds the death of a housewife who was found in a charred condition at her in-laws house at Survey Park police station area on November 26.

The family members of the victim brought the charges of abetment to suicide against her husband. On the basis of the specific complaint, the police have started a probe. They alleged that the deceased, identified as Alokparna Mitra, had been under tremendous mental depression after being subjected to both mental and physical torture.

The victim was taken to a private hospital after she suffered nearly 90 per cent burn injuries. She died at the hospital. The family members of the woman also told the police that the accused husband used to create nuisance in their housing complex after consuming alcohol. They had got married in 1996. The preliminary investigating by the police suggested that the woman committed suicide by setting herself on fire. The police have arrested the husband, Shoumick Mitra in this connection. The investigating officers are interrogating the accused to ascertain the cause behind her committing suicide.
