Kolkata: Suspected IS activist Masiuddin, alias Musa, was remanded to police custody for two days after being produced in Alipore Court on Wednesday in connection with the incident in which he had attempted to murder a warder in Alipore Central Correctional Home.
It was on December 3 when Musa had attempted to murder a warder in the correctional home. He had attacked warder Gabinda Chandra Dey when the latter had gone to bring the activist out of his cell at around 6.30 am. He had attempted to slit his throat with a sharpened steel spoon. A complaint was lodged with Alipore police station in this connection and police initiated a probe to find out the exact reason which prompted Musa to attempt the attack. Police submitted a plea before the court to remand Musa in their custody for four days, citing the need to interrogate him, following which the court sent him in police custody for two days.
Police have also recovered the steel spoon used to commit the crime. They will also be interrogating him to know from whom he had managed to get the spoon in the correctional home.
It was in July 2016 when Musa was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) from Burdwan Station in Viswa Bharati Fast Passenger when he was entering the city to execute a terror attack.
