Murshidabad youth hacked to death in Jharkhand

Kolkata: As the state was crawling back to normalcy after five Bengal labourers were killed in a gruesome terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir, yet another case of a Murshidabad youth came to light who was allegedly hacked to death in Jharkhand.

According to sources, the deceased has been identified as Israil Sheikh (32) of Bilpara at Raghunathganj in Murshidabad who went to the neighbouring state along with few others for work. He was a mason. It is alleged that on Wednesday evening, he had gone out from the room where they all were staying together.

When after several hours, Sheikh did not return, others went out to search for him. After almost an hour, one of them found his body inside a dry well with multiple injury marks. Police arrived and brought the body up. It was learnt that Sheikh was stabbed multiple times with a sharp weapon.

MLA of Raghunathganj Md Akhrujjaman said he had got in touch with the concerned police station in Jharkhand about the incident. "I came to know that three persons have already been arrested. Meanwhile, we have handed over a token amount of Rs 1 lakh to Sheikh's family. People from Bengal are deliberately being targeted and killed," he said.

Sources claimed that the autopsy examination has been completed. The body will soon reach Murshidabad by road. Though three suspects have been arrested, it is still unknown why Sheikh was killed.
