Mother's Wax Museum records staggering footfall of 6L

KOLKATA: Mother's Wax Museum, the first of its kind in eastern India has recorded a staggering footfall of 6 lakh people since its inauguration three years ago.
The museum situated in New Town was opened in November 2014. Over the years, Mother's Wax museum has come up as an important tourist spot.
Situated close to the Eco Park, many people who come here also visit Mother's Wax Museum. It may be mentioned that more than one crore people have visited Eco Park since its inauguration five years ago.
Mother's Wax museum is divided into several sections. In the entertainment section, one gets the wax statues of Bengali matinee idol Uttam Kumar and Suchitra Sen along with Bollywood stars like Amitabh Bachhan, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan.
Popular heroes like Bruce Lee, Daniel Craig, Jack Sparrow and Daniel Radcliffe are found to share the same roof with their Indian counterparts.
There is a brilliant statue of Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose working in his laboratory. Statues of Satyendranath Bose, Albert Einstein and APJ Abdul Kalam also share the same enclosure.The sports section is the most popular where one gets the statues of great Cricket personalities like Kapil Dev, Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly and present Indian skipper Virat Kohli.
The statues of Lionel Messi and Baichung Bhutia are popular as visitors often found clicking selfies with the wax figurines of them. The wax statues of great personalities include Rammohan Roy, Sri Ramakrishna, Ma Sarada, Sister Nivedita, Netaji, Gandhiji, Mother Teresa.
The statues of Rabindra Nath Tagore, Kazi Nazrul Islam, Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay and Satyajit Roy in the literature section are crowd pullers. The fantasy section has been added to woo children which include Chota Bheem Doraemon and Spider Man.
There is a coffee shop on the open terrace and it gives a view of New Town. Both Mother's Wax museum and Eco Park are star attractions in New Town which has come up as a major tourist destination. Tourist from other states and foreign countries come to visit Mother's Wax Museum.
