Mobiles stolen from shop near Loknath Mandir in Baguiati

Kolkata: A mobile shop was looted near Loknath Mandir in Baguiati. The shop owner claimed that the mobile phones and other things were worth at least Rs 25 lakh.

Significantly the shop is located on the ground floor of the building named Alingan where minister Purnendu Bose and MP Dola Sen meet people of Rajarhat-Gopalpur assembly constituency.

Beside the Alingan building Sen has a flat and Bose has a rented flat where he stays sometimes.

According to sources, on Tuesday morning, owner of the shop identified as Aman Rahman of Atghara in Rajarhat came to open his shop found the lock of the shutter and part of shutter are broken. After entering the shop Rahman found the mobile phones kept inside the shop are missing.

Later, he found a laptop and some amount of cash were also missing.

Later at night he lodged a complaint at the Baguiati police station. In the complaint he stated that 73 mobile phones of various brands have been stolen.

On the basis of his complaint police initiated a case on charges of theft against unknown miscreants. Till Wednesday night no one was arrested.

Question arose how miscreants could break open the shutter of a shop at such a place where a minister comes in regular interval and an MP stays. However, the police claimed that patrolling vans keep a close watch in and around the area.

The police are checking the CCTV camera footages which are installed in the area to identify possible suspects.

Also police took the CCTV footage of the shop and are scrutinising it to identify the culprits.
