Mitra hails Bengal's GST performance

Kolkata: State Finance minister Amit Mitra lauded Bengal's performance in GST on Monday.

"Our state's performance in GST is one of the best in the country. Last March, Bengal was the only state which had targeted a 14 percent GST growth and finally a higher growth has been registered," said Mitra, while addressing the session on budget discussions at the state Assembly. GST collection has also gone up by 23 percent in 2018-19 in comparison to the 2017-18 fiscal.

The minister further said that there has been another 23 percent rise in the expenditure on State Development Scheme. "In 2017-18, the expenditure under State Development Scheme was Rs 57,779 crore, which went up to Rs 71,113 crore in 2018-19," he said.
