Miscreants snatch woman's purse, take away valuables

Kolkata: Some miscreants snatched a bag from an elderly woman in broad day light at Barrackpore in North 24-Parganas on Thursday.
The victim, Keya Modak was returning home along SN Banerjee road from the administrative building. As a former government employee, she went to the administrative building for some work.
When she was on her way home, some miscreants stopped and snatched her bag containing a few thousand rupees cash along with some important documents.
The miscreants who were two in number easily overpowered the elderly woman and fled with the bag. Some of the locals rushed to the woman after hearing her screaming but failed to get hold of the accused.
The incident triggered tension among locals. The victim told the police that there were around Rs 11,000 cash, her voter's ID card and Aadhar card inside the bag. The bag also contained some important documents related to her service. The victim later lodged a complaint at the local police station on the basis of which police have started a probe. Police suspect that the accused are some local miscreants. They are conducting raids to nab the culprits.
